Mickey the cat vs "ghost"

I've gotten interested in the paranormal again (thanks creepy ghosts!) so I'm going to be updating this again. I'm surprised I haven't posted this before. This is the only picture I know of that has anything "weird" about it. Now, for fair note, it could be a hair, and some believe it to be so. But, you can never tell. I always thought it was strange the way Mickey (the cat) was looking at the camera.
On a side note, I need to look through old pictures and see if I can find anything. Next time I'm up there, I plan on taking some more, just to see if I get anything besides random dust orbs and haird :D

One creepy feeling

This story comes sometime between 1998 to 2001. I'm leaning more towards 2001... I remember I was a teenager in high school:

My aunt was visiting our house from out of state, so to be nice, I let her sleep in my room (the "safe" room) while I slept in the sitting room. The room is at the front of the house, and there was a sofa that was right next to a very large open bay window.

Sometime during the night, I got up to get a drink and laid back down on the sofa. While I was up I felt a little strange, but I shrugged it off. As I was trying to get back to sleep, all of a sudden I *felt* a very strong presence outside of the window, right next to me. What I can only describe as chills that ran in loops from the top of my head to my feet and back again, like a bolt of electricity was running through my body. I kept my eyes closed, because I knew if I would have opened them there would have been a ghost standing right next to me from outside the window, looking in.

"Its only my mind, there is nothing there" I kept telling myself, yet this feeling kept washing over me. Chills-chills-chills! Then, I felt the presence float over me, inside the house, and then it stopped right next to me. The room suddenly got VERY cold, and my skin started to tingle along with the chills. "Please go away" I told whatever it was, which usually worked with spirits, but this one seemed to just LOOM over me, as if it was saying "what are YOU doing here?" It was there for what seemed like hours, and the feeling just kept getting more intense and I did not like the way this spirit felt. Very strong, very invasive, very very foreboding. So I decided to say the Lord's Prayer, not loud enough to wake up the house, but loud enough for it to hear me.

As I said the prayer the feelings intensified, until I got to the line "...and deliver us from Evil..." when the feeling suddenly peaked and then dissipated. As I said "Amen" the room suddenly went back to normal, the chills stopped, and the feeling of the spirit left the room. I laid there with my eyes closed for a while, still to scared to open my eyes and completely freaked out by what just happened.

I heard my dad's distinctive "bathroom shuffle" a time later, and as he was going back to his room I yelled up to him. "Dad? Is that you?"
"Yeah," he said "whats wrong?"
"Can you see if anyone is down here?"
He came downstairs and turned on the light, and there wasn't anyone (or anything) in the room. Only then did I open my eyes, and he told me I looked really pale (more than normal) and completely freaked out. He asked what was wrong and I just told him that I felt something bad in the room. He assured me that everything was fine, but I ended up sleeping elsewhere that night nonetheless.

Never before or since have I ever felt that feeling or been in the presence of something like that spirit. I'm hoping it was just a visiting spirit, or just a curious one, but no one has dared sleep by that window again. I regret being too scare to open my eyes, but if I did, who knows what I would have seen. Probably something that would still be giving me nightmares...

Until next time...

The most recent events

So, I know I should do all these stories in chronological order, but honestly, I don't remember when what happened and such nonsense. So, the last post was about the first event I vividly remember at my dad's house, this is the most recent.

Not every time I am there something happens. Sometimes, I have several experiences within a few hours, sometimes nothing for months on end. According to dad, it is the same living there, sometimes it seems like just a normal little house! And then other times you are about ready to call in Ghost Hunters and tell them to go crazy. Anyways, I was just visiting there a few weeks ago and it was one of those nothing times. And I think the time before that the same.

The time before that though, the spirits were out in full force. Of course in his house most times you get some strange creaky-cracky sounds in the night, but as my mom would have said "ooh that's just the house moving." Besides that, I was walking downstairs, and his house is a tri-level home so you can see the landing for the third floor as you are walking downstairs. Well, as I was walking, out of the corner of my eye, for just a teeeeeny bit of a second, I saw someone walk by on the upper level. I stopped, and walked back upstairs, and sure enough my dad and my boyfriend, who were the only two others in the house, were on the mid level. I gave them a weird look and asked if one of them was just upstairs. Of course they weren't. I just pretended like it was no deal, as I didn't want to scare anyone, but later told my dad I saw someone upstairs. He just shrugged and said "yup, that happens."

Later that night, I slept in my old bedroom, which for fair note I've always felt safe in, on the fold out bed. Its got one of those strange, thin, plastic mattresses on it that makes a very distinctive crumple sound when you move. In the middle of the night, I woke up to a strange feeling in the room, which again is pretty odd since that room has always felt like the safest one in the house. Then I heard a crumple sound and I felt someone sit on the edge of the bed right by me. Without my contacts, I am a bit more gutsy since I can't exactly see more than 4 inches in front of me, so I politely asked whoever/whatever it was to go away. Then the weight came off of the bed, and the feeling was gone. At least whoever visited was friendly enough to sit BESIDE me and not ON me, as some ghosts have a tendency to do.

The next day I told dad about my "midnight visitor" and he proceeded to make fun. "Well, perhaps he likes you!" ... uh, my dad is weird.

Until next time...

My first "ghostly encounter"

As a young child, growing up in our Victorian-style house in a small town in Nebraska, I never thought twice about ghosts. They were there, I saw them, but I never thought twice about it. I vividly remember a ghost dog coming and visiting my room when I was young, and my mother told me as a teenager that she thought my "imaginary friend" I had was more than just my imagination. But, I never thought it was a big deal. They were there, I was there, they didn't scare me. On a side note, I *was* scared of vampires!

When we moved to Ohio (in the house before my dad's freakin haunted house) the ghost thing went away for a few years. Perhaps it is normal with children that grow up, that as we grow older we become desensitized to such things. Of course, I still didn't like graveyards. But, I don't have any strong recollection of anything paranormal happening between when I was six to when I was ten. Then we moved to dad's house.

Perhaps I had other "ghostly encounters" before this, but looking back I specifically remember this as the first, and perhaps the only poltergeist account I've ever had in dad's house. It was either a year or two after we had moved in, and I was either in 6th or 7th grade. My friend Tiffany and I had full run of the house while my parents were away, and while we were in charge we had to check in with my autistic brother, Alex, every once in awhile. We were running upstairs, and all of a sudden my bedroom door started shaking violently right in front of us, as if someone was trying to get in or out of the room. I remember my friend Tiffany and I just standing there for a few seconds until it stopped, and of course we thought that maybe my brother was in my room, which he had a tendency to do from time to time. Strange thing was there was a hook and eye lock on the outside of the door, which helped prevent my brother from getting into my room when I wasn't in it. And it was still locked.

So we unlocked the door and sure enough, he wasn't in there. Confused we went looking for Alex, and he was asleep in his room. Weird. So we went back into my bedroom to see if maybe a cat or something was in there, even though the force behind the door seemed pretty strong. There was nothing. We even checked to see if the air conditioner or heater was on, or if there was a draft in the room. Nothing again. It was as if some strange force had shaken the door, almost right off of its hinges. As you can imagine, we freaked. We didn't go back into the room until my parents got home, and they couldn't figure out what it was either. Since then, nothing like that has happened.

Perhaps there still IS some random scientific explanation for it, but I don't know. I think it was some spirit's way of saying "I'm here even if you can't see me" or maybe it was even saying "silly girls, go check on your brother." Either way, it was freaky.

Until next time...
